Spouting Repair.

A common call out is to repair spouting leaks.

Spouting leaks are generally where the sealant has had its day and lifted off the join. They are not always easy to get to as the internal corners have the valley gutter in the way. External corners have the hip in the way. The sealant needs to be removed and the area cleaned off for an effective seal. Rather than sealant I use a product called Evercryl. This is a rubberised paint with fibrous strands. It adheres really well and is flexible, this is important as spouting suffers from expansion and contraction, this in turn creates movement. I'm by no means saying this product will last forever, but it does appear to wear better than sealant.
